Coursework Samples

This page dives deeper into my coursework and shows my academic proficiency in the Spanish language, cultural & literature competency, and business competency.

Linguistic Proficiency

Spanish for International Business I (SPAN 3160)

In my Spanish for International Business class, we were tasked with a semester long group project, where we had to make our own company in Central or Latin America. Our group chose to create a coffee company named Cafecito Costa Rica, in which we defined its social function, supporting fair trade and sustainability, and applied the 4 P’s of marketing to position our brand. Our mission emphasized ethical sourcing and cultural appreciation. We designed an organizational chart outlining key roles and planned human resources strategies for fair wages and employee development.

The Hispanic World: Latin America (SPAN 3080)

This report offers a detailed reflection on my experience learning about the Argentine gauchos and their fascinating history during my visit to an estancia in Córdoba, Argentina. Through firsthand exposure to their culture, traditions, and lifestyle, I gained a deeper understanding of the pivotal role gauchos played in shaping Argentina’s history, particularly in relation to their influence on the country’s agriculture, independence, and national identity.

Culture and Literature Competency

Hispanic Film (SPAN 4070):

In my Hispanic Film course, I wrote a 7-page analysis in Spanish of the Venezuelan film Pelo Malo, examining its central themes and analyzing key impactful scenes. After completing this essay, I had the opportunity to submit my writing piece to a writing forum at the University of Georgia.

The Hispanic World: Latin America (SPAN 3080):

For my final essay in my Latin American History class, I wrote a 5-page paper (in Spanish) on the Cuban Missile Crisis, focusing on its lasting repercussions for Latin America and how different countries in the region responded in various ways. I took this course during my semester abroad in Córdoba, Argentina.

Business Competency

International Economics (ECON 3100):

Based off of the Trade Talks podcast episode 172 "Peru's 'China Shock': Surprising turns and the women left behind" with Chad Bown and Pamela Medina Quispe, I created a 20 minute presentation about the "China Shock" about China entering the WTO in 2001 and how this disproportionately affected the Peruvian economy and female workers.

Business Writing (PCID 3040):

In my business writing class, I was tasked to create a digital media marketing plan for a local Clemson business. I chose to create a plan for Paw Power Nails, as there are many other competitor salons in the area. I included a market analysis, target market demographics, competitor analyses, pricing strategies, as well as a proposed marketing budget.
